We are in the midst of summer here in Tuscany and have the privilege of being part of and enjoying many wonderful events and sharing these with the many visitors who choose to travel with Tours of Tuscany.

‘La Giostra dell Archidado’ traces its origins to the Middle Ages and was officially created in 1397 to celebrate the wedding of Francesco Casali, the then Lord of Cortona and Antonia Salimbeni, a noble woman from Siena. Early in June in the historical city of Cortona this event is re-enacted in medieval style; ladies, knights, flag throwers, cross bow shooters, soldiers, pages, civil and religious, all dressed in stunning costumes of the time.

‘The Mix Festival’ commences late in July through to the 2nd August and brings to Cortona many international and local artists; poets, opera singers, orchestras, culinary delights and transforms Cortona into an even more eclectic community during the festival period.

Umbria Jazz Festival commenced in 1973 and is held annually in the historical centre of Perugia, which is the capital of Umbria. The city becomes alive with international and local jazz musicians which entertain the many visitors during the day and into the night.
